You can tie herbs or autumn flowers, fallen leaves, whatever you like to him. Whatever you do, it's bound to be special. This is a great project you can do with the kids. They can each make their own.

Now to me that is a corn dolly, something to be made usually around imbolc or Lammas. But I never thought about it in any other way, thanks Wolfie ;)

It's not a poppet (I don't do poppets or voodoo dolls :P) and it's not a corn doll (does that really look like an ear of corn? :P ) I'll get mine posted soon as I get to my mother in law's to get some twigs and stuff to make one and I'll get a picture up. We have no trees in our yard and the neighbors don't have much fallen twigs or foliage. It is simply a straw doll to place on a shelf or mantle made from some of the fallen twigs, harvesting some herbs, etc to carry through the winter to remind us that Beltaine will be here before we know it. :D The project came from several sites that I visited. When you see the finished project, you'll see how pretty it can be.

Blessings,
Wolfie

Been wanting to make one of these myself and just haven't had the chance to get out to my mother in law's where all the great twigs are :( ASA I am able I'll get 'er done. Lol and in retrospective thought? I don't see why it can't be used for a poppet as these days I can think of people I might name it after lmao!

And Sekhmut .. I believe you, really I DO!

How come I never noticed this post before! Who's been hiding it from me!

I want to have a go at making one, I'm sure I can find some twigs or straw from somewhere. Is it one of those things that you only make at certain times of the year or at certain festivals (as it says to save it to burn at beltane).
