I like this a lot. It has good perspective and the textured detail is great. I'll look forward to seeing the added highlights on it that you mentioned.

Really good work.

(sorry I find it hard to stop being an art teacher)

I can't paint, I just somehow managed to slap strange water based substances on a piece of paper and that came out ;)

That's the ticket there Odin's Raven, I guess with me its a matter of inspiration. I've tried painting a few times and never really got the hang of it myself. Trust me when I say I've had a few disasters many years ago and gave up for over 13 years. It was just by chance I caught a program on the old viewing box that pointed out a technique I'd never seen before. With that technique a moment of inspiration (that image wouldn't get out of my head) I managed to do it.

As for the acrylics, I used to paint miniatures for a long time, you're the third person who's suggested that to me now, guess I better start listening lol.

re art

Postby odins raven on Mon Jan 07, 2008 6:35 pm

the type of acrylics i am refering to is not quit the same as your warhammer figures, yep i do that as well. games workshop/valujo paints are the sort of thing you use for your minis, the stuff for your canvas is artists acrylic. in tubes. maybe a few brushes would come a miss either.
i use oil water colour and acrylic also like wolfsong paint shop pro. for some of my computer graphics.

Well I may just pick your brain on some of the best ones to look at. As for brushes, I was wonderfully blessed with some nice brushes from my parents :)

I still find it hard to believe that I actually painted that to start with. Lets say something has awoken in me and I'm suddenly finding new artistic talents I never thought I had :)
