here's an altar box that is kinda an ongoing project. some of you have seen it unpainted in other photos, but i recently added some colour:

Wow. That box is amazing!

How long has it taken to get it to this level?

well i bought the box plain and it took about 20 odd hours to do the carving because it was my first time carving on a flat surface (i'd previously only done wands). but the painting didn't take long at all. so to get to that stage i'd say about 21/22 hours.

but there was about a year between carving and painting.

You do realise you are making us old hands who can't carve for love nor money look bad lol

All joking aside, I love it, it just screams personal and it also has that wonderfully Pagan feel :)

FANTASTIC!!

it has a butterfly on the front too. i think i have a pic of it somewhere.

and speaking of hands, several times the wood almost ended up a fetching red shade! it would help if i had the proper tools, cos i had to do this box with a darn paring knife and one craft knife (you know, the ones that are like scalpels).

aha, found it!

i used teak oil on it since then so the wood is the same colour as the top.
